Today, I’m proud to introduce the latest in the series of Science of NFL Football short video segments, presented by NBC, the NFL, and the National Science Foundation. Darlene Cavalier, (aka The Science Cheerleader) helped forge this partnership.
Earlier, in my SciCheer interview, I explained how being a professional cheerleader helped my science career.  The most important thing is to have a goal in mind!
Well, I’m thrilled to have been asked to help introduce the sixth of ten, Science of NFL Football segments. This one, “Newton’s First Law of Motion,”  takes a look at how one very important goal–advancing the football down the field as far and as fast as possible–is directly related to an important scientific rule: Newton’s First Law of Motion. I’ll let NBC’s Lester Holt explain, with participation from former NFL wide receiver Antonio Freeman and former NFL linebacker Hardy Nickerson.
