Darlene Cavalier, Founder of Science Cheerleader, is part of the core team launching this “unconference” where participants, including Cavalier, will talk about challenges and opportunities related to public engagement in science.

National Science Teachers Association’s annual conference with more than 10,000 science teachers. Science Cheerleaders from the Indianapolis Colts will make an appearance.

Science Cheerleaders will help lead science/engineering and citizen science activities with the Girl Scouts. Nice twist: the Girl Scouts will be cheering for science and engineering!

Philadelphia Science Festival on the Ben Franklin Parkway
Science Cheerleaders will perform and lead cheers with regional collegiate, high school and middle school cheerleaders! They’ll also lead citizen science activities in partnership with our sister-site, SciStarter!

Washington, DC: (4/27-4/29)
USA Science and Engineering Festival at the Washington, DC Convention Center.
We will kick off the festival with more than 10,000 students with a BIG Cheer for Science. The United States Geological Survey will measure the seismic waves of our cheer. Schools across the nation will do the same cheer at the same time (1:30 pm ET) and will measure seismic activity at their own school using (free) classroom earthquake sensors, generously provided by the USGS. It’s not too late to sign up and get your school or university involved in the Big Cheer! The Science Cheerleaders will perform science-themed routines, sign autographs, and, of course, get thousands of people involved in citizen science projects featured on our sister-site, SciStarter!
