From Dr. John: Citizen scientists, I need your help in choosing Science Cheerleader’s celebrity double. We had a 10 great suggestions ranging from Heather Graham to Helen Hunt to Shrek. As an authorized Master Celebrity Doublologist (ok, so I’m 4 credits short), I took the liberty of putting together the two top candidates: Reese Witherspoon, provided by Ame, and Kristen Bell, provided by Jackie.
Leave a comment with your vote by THURSDAY NOVEMBER 19. Your vote may determine whether Ame or Jackie takes home a free Science Cheerleader t-shirt!
I like Reese Witherspoon’s pic the best so far, but that said, nobody can match Darlene’s enthusiasm! ;-{P
With seeing the photos, I vote for Kristin Bell as your double.
I vote for Kristen Bell. From her Wikipedia entry, I discovered that “Bell has been associated with the idea that ‘nerdy is the new cool'”, which is a point in her favor. And who ever the celebrity winner turns out to be, why not also send them a Science Cheerleader T-Shirt with a brief explaination as to why they get this amazing honor? It could be good publicity. P.S. – I think it’s “Kristen”, not “Kristin”.
Oh dear, Wikipedia also reveals that Reese Witherspoon loves reading and “…considered herself ‘a big dork who reads loads of books.'” plus she was a cheerleader. Additionally, her mom has a Ph.D.
Oh, the agony! However, I’ll still stick with Kriten Bell, just because I think this particular photo of her looks a teeny bit more like Darlene.
I vote for Ame. I have always said you look like Reese Witherspoon.
Kristen Bell. But the only reason I can give is for retribution over Veronica Mars being canceled.
This has absolutely nothing to do with the voting, but it shows how gullible I am because I fell for this…
Friend (with a dead serious look on her face): “Did you hear that one of those Hollywood starlets stabbed her boyfriend with an eating utensil?”
Me: “No. Who was it?”
Friend: “Umm, Reese… Reese…”
Me: “Witherspoon?”
Friend: “No, with a fork!”
Kristen Bell. I also agree with John T. Collier about sending a T-Shirt to the person who gets picked as looking the closest like you, but perhaps take it one step further and send them BOTH t-shirts. Free press, how could you not love that!
I say Kristen Bell by the way the lighting is in the two images. From a specialist in face recognition technology I consulted for a very similar poll I conducted on my site, I discovered that lighting is the key! Best analysis is done by features based recognition, from what I hear…or maybe the team from that Look-A-Like TV show!
Thanks, all. Great idea to send the Tshirt to Kristen, Heather and Reese! Thanks for thinking of that. (And the features based recognition sounds fascinating.)
Kind of weird to be commenting on this myself but blame this on Dr. John for coming up with this “celebrity double” idea. Check out his other doubles: http://johnohab.com/celebritydoubles/ He’s a clever one! Does anyone have any ideas for Science Celebrity Doubles? The former Editor of Discover looks a lot like Jeff Goldblum, come to think of it.
Btw, I’ve come to realize that I’m actually MUCH better looking than Heather, Reese and Kristen. I just never knew it because the people around me tend to focus on my minor imperfections. They don’t get my rockin style (part grunge, part garanimals, part “didn’t you wear that yesterday…and the day before?”). I’m surrounded by ignorance!!
Thank goodness for my online friends who’ve never met me and my pals who haven’t seen me for 20 years. For you all understand that a few smile lines and “birthing hips” only add to ones utter gorgeousness.
To those who are graced by my physical presence on a regular basis, may you someday see the light…. Read More
All rise.
Paul: My apologies. You are totally right about Heather Graham. I guess my super ultra Celebrity Doublology degree can’t compare to the power of the collective consciousness. (yet again)
John C. I never made it past the first round in any spelling bee. I don’t like to talk about it. Very painful.
Darlene: Just be happy that nobody likens you to the brother from Everybody Loves Raymond. Story of my life.
Little late, but K. Bell if they are my two choices although I think I’m going more for tone colors then actual features. What do *I* know.
