Hey football fans, check out your Science Cheerleaders during the playoffs! My name is Megan and I’m a former Washington Redskins Cheerleader (HAIL!) as well as a Computer Engineer. I’m a regional coordinator here at Science Cheerleader for the DC/MD/VA Corridor and I’m excited to present to you all of the amazing Ravens Cheerleaders pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering, math and health fields. My fellow Science Cheerleader, Hilary, profiled the SciCheers on the Patriots, here.
Drumroll please…your Science Cheerleaders for the Baltimore Ravens!
Ashley S.- Forensic Scientist
Rookie
“I wanted to be a Forensic Scientist because it combined what I love which is forensics and what I’m good at which is math and science. I wanted to be a part of the foundation of a growing field. As many industries the work of a forensic scientist helps people in many ways by giving families peace of mind, exonerating the innocent and bringing the guilty to justice. I’m passionate about what I’ve done so far and excited to see what the future brings.”
Brandi R.- Pharmaceutical Sales Representative
Third-year veteran
“I graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science in Health Education & Promotion. I went on to do pharmaceutical sales for 6 years and now I’m the Director of Sales & Business development for the largest Pain Management Company in Maryland.”
Brittany W.- Software Sales
Third-year veteran
Carley F.- Student, Career Goal: get a doctorate in psychology
Rookie
Dana F.- Systems Engineer
Fourth-year Veteran and Science Cheerleader Veteran!
“I’m an Systems Engineer for a Government Defense Contractor. My undergrad degree is from Virginia Tech where I majored in Industrial and Systems Engineering. The program that I work on develops commercial-off-the-shelf based software and hardware upgrades to assimilate improved tactical control capabilities for US Navy submarines.
I chose my engineering major because math and science are my strong subjects, so they are the areas where I excelled in school. After graduation, I got hired to work as a Systems Engineer and what I love most about my job is that the work I do everyday plays a role in our nation’s safety. When I sit back and really think about it from that perspective, I realize there’s nothing else I’d rather be doing! (Except maybe cheering on the Ravens haha)
In the near future, I’d like to go back to school and get my Masters in an engineering field, probably either Systems Engineering or Engineering Management.”
Danielle S.- Veterinary Assistant

Hillary J.- Career Goal: Psychology. Become a marriage and family therapist
Third-year Veteran
Jenna O.- Chemist

“ I graduated from Towson University with a Bachelor’s degree in biology and chemistry. I currently work as a chemist at a local lab testing the raw materials for impurities that go into making different pharmaceuticals. My main testing area is gas chromatography for materials that have new methods or new materials that do not currently have a method in place. I am responsible for developing the new method if needed and then validating the method. I also do testing for heavy metals, UV testing, melting point, freezing point, x-ray diffraction, and elemental analyses for carbon, hydrogen and nitrogen.
